Mount Lebanon Chapel | Airlie Gardens | Fine Art Print
FREE SHIPPING This beautiful historic church, Mount Lebanon Chapel, was built in 1830 by Dr. Thomas Henry Wright on the 320 acre property known at the time as Mount Lebanon. He conceived the idea to build a chapel for members of St. James Episcopal who lived in the area. It was deeded to St. James in 1875. Restored in 1974, it was listed in the National Registry of Historic Places in 1986. It is the oldest surviving church in New Hanover County.
When I was asked to create a painting for a wedding invitation, I started to sketch the chapel from different angles. I landed on this view which captures the character of the picturesque building. I completed the drawing out of love for the beautiful old church and I am offering prints to anyone who loves it too.
